Gratefulness....

Gratefulness is the trait of a great person.

On the flip side of the coin, ungratefulness must be the trait of a little person. And it hurts, and is unsettling to be working together with people who are ungrateful. And the funny thing about ungrateful people, they are also spiteful, with lots of bitter things to say about you, and about the team, and the world around them.

Thankfully in my work life, I have only met two of such people, colleagues that you have made an effort to help develop their skills to enable them to grow in their roles; and when they have what they want, they not only push you away but say a lot of "things". Well - only two in my entire career. Thats really not much, I guess.

Perhaps ungrateful people are rare in this world.

Thank God for that!

You raise me up

Whatever achievements we have clinched, or status in life or at work, let us always be grateful and remember all those "bear"s whose shoulders we have stood on to get to where we are today. Our mother, our father, elder brothers and/or sisters, husband or wife, teacher, boss...each had a role to play. May we spend a moment to silent thank these special people who has raised us up to a higher level, a level which we could not have gotten there on our own efforts or intelligence alone. Be grateful.

Rain or shine

One of the songs we are taught in kindergarten is "rain rain go away, come back on another day", giving rain a bad name and making us into little sun worshippers.
Thankfully, as I grew older, I learnt to appreciate rain more and more. It's refreshing qualities, its instant relief in a sweltering summer heat, and even its ability to turn a walk in the drizzle, a romantic stroll.
Funny thing is, rain has never changed in all these years. It still makes my nice shoes wet, the ends of my jeans soaked or my hair damp and frizzy. But what has changed is my mindset. My ability to stop judging something as good or bad, but just to take it as it is and make the best out of the situation. Come rain or shine, it is yet another beautiful day worth embracing.
